Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Sub Order Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sub Orders are character-specific optional quests that sit between the mandatory Main Orders and the repeatable Standard Orders.

There are 25 Sub Orders, all found in Australia; Mexico has none. Unlike Standard Orders, which exist purely to farm Likes and never expire, Sub Orders are unique, one-time objectives that reward gear and schematics unavailable anywhere else in the game.

Three Order Types: What Makes Sub Orders Different

Main Orders advance the story and must be completed to finish the game. Standard Orders are repeatable, expire on a cooldown, and exist solely to raise Facility connection levels through Likes. Sub Orders sit in between — optional, narrative-driven, and unlocked specifically through connecting a Shelter or progressing a related Prepper's storyline.

Several Sub Orders must be completed before a Prepper will agree to connect to the Chiral Network at all, making them effectively mandatory for full completion despite technically being optional.

Notable Sub Orders and What They Unlock

• Sub Order 110: Uncover the Identity of the Headless Riders and Remove the Threat — an elimination mission that unlocks The Ghost Hunter Shelter on completion, rewarding the Black Drift song, the Woodland Porter Suit, and the Rocket Box weapon.

• Sub Order 117: Defeat the Lord of the Tar Lake — a boss fight against Cetus, one of the captureable giant BT Territory creatures, unlocked after maxing connection with The Fisherman.
• Sub Order 104: Restore Smoke Hill Mine — the first opportunity to restore a Mine, rewarding 240 Likes for the initial repair.

• Sub Orders 108, 112, and 115 — all involve rescuing animals (a Dog Mech, a Lyrebird, and an Emu) and delivering them to the Animal Shelter, directly tying into wild animal capture progress.

• Sub Order 123 and 124: The Chiral Sculptures — among the most demanding Sub Orders for completionists, requiring recovery of multiple Chiral Sculptures from inaccessible and hazardous terrain. Sub Order 124 specifically rewards PCC Lv3, a critical crafting unlock, and is widely considered one of the harder challenges in the entire Sub Order list due to its remote, Armed Hostile-guarded locations.

Recommended Equipment Varies Significantly

Unlike Main Orders, several Sub Orders demand highly specific loadouts before attempting them — ladders, Climbing Anchors, the Pickup Off-Roader, or specific tranquilizer weapons are frequently listed as recommended equipment.

Checking the recommended gear for a Sub Order before departing avoids a wasted round trip back to a Supply Camp or Facility mid-delivery.

Nothing Is Missable

Like all content in Death Stranding 2, no Sub Order is permanently lost by progressing the main story. Every Sub Order remains available to accept and complete during the post-game Episode 17 free-roam state, with no time pressure once the credits roll.
